1. Eat a Filling Breakfast
The first, and arguably the most important, tip is always to eat breakfast. A healthy, filling breakfast kick starts your metabolism and gets your mind in the right gear. Healthy breakfast foods, like toast, eggs and fruits, help you wake up and keep your body nice and sated until lunch.

2. Take the Stairs
It might not seem like much, but just taking the stairs every day has a huge impact on your overall health. Everybody assumes that “physical activity” must take place in a gym in order to count, but it really doesn’t.

Going up and down a few flights of stairs gets your blood pumping and goes a long way toward keeping you active. You’ll be surprised to find what a difference walking makes.

3. Drink Water
Sometimes, when you think you’re hungry, you’re actually just are dehydrated. Just because you aren’t running a marathon doesn’t mean your body isn’t burning through whatever liquid you drank at breakfast.

Staying hydrated keeps you awake and curbs your hunger. Instead of reaching for a donut in the break room, grab a big glass of water. Don’t start snacking until you’ve finished it, and if you’re still hungry…

Our day-to-day lives are structured around the “three meals a day” system, but there’s not actually a biological reason for it. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently published a study that concluded that weight loss occurs as long as calories consumed is less than calories burned, no matter how many meals you’re eating. Frequent healthy snacks, coupled with slightly smaller meals, are an excellent way to keep your body feeling full without loading up on calories.

5. Aim for “3-for-30”
Not everybody wants to hear this, but exercise is vital for a healthy body. Being active burns calories, and cardiovascular exercises strengthen the heart.

This doesn’t mean you need to be Michael Phelps or Julie Chu. Just 30 minutes of exercise for three days each week will go a long way toward keeping you fit!

So, there you have it. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel to stay healthy. Eat right, stay hydrated and get off your butt every once in a while to give your muscles a stretch. You’ll be back in your skinny jeans in no time!
