You will want to make sure that you find your new doctor
before you leave your current one. Finding a new doctor is not always as easy
as it seems, so you want to ensure that you have found one first, and make sure
the new practitioner is willing to take on new patients.
Procure Medical Records
Before switching doctors, you should make a final
appointment with your current doctor. Take this time to go over anything that
you currently have going on medically, such as any health problems you may have
or any recurrent health issues. Ensure that you have copies of all of your
medical records so you can give them to your new doctor. They will then have
all of the information about you that they will need.
First Appointment
Once you have finished everything up with your current
doctor, you can then begin the steps you need to with your new doctor. The
first thing will be to set up an appointment with your new doctor. This is a
great way to get to know a little bit about your doctor and to give them some
time to get to know more about you. Rather than waiting for you to be sick, it
is better to schedule a physical with them. This will allow you the time to
casually talk rather than when you are sick.
Record Keeping
You will want to ensure that you give your new doctor a set
of the medical records that you received from your other doctor. According to a
Sacramento personal injury lawyer, before you give the doctor their set, make a copy
to keep for yourself. It is always a good idea to have a copy for your records
on hand. Try and get your records to the doctor before your first visit so they
have time to look it over.
Write it Down
Make a list of any questions that you would like to ask the
doctor when you visit with them. This will help to ensure that you do not
forget anything that you wanted to ask them.
