Don't Let Your Single Life End With A Whimper And A Hatful Of Regrets

Getting married is one of the biggest steps that anyone can take in their life, so it is no wonder that many of us get nervous in the build-up to the big day.

I have to confess that I was so concerned with my clothes, the cake and even the blooming flowers that I didn’t enjoy the days leading up to it at all. In fact, if I am being completely honest I was a nervous wreck during the two or three months before our wedding day. Because of this I decided to think about the best advice to give to others to ensure that they do not regret the time running up to your special day.

Have a Stag Night that You will Never Live Down
One of my huge regrets is that I never had a proper stag night. A few of us went out after work but since we hadn’t planned anything everyone started drifting home after a couple of hours. I had always been terrified of having the kind of stag night in which I ended up stripped and fast asleep on a train to Bulgaria the night before my wedding but when I look back now I wish that something like that had happened to me.

It must be amazing to have memories like that to look back on with your mates as you think about all the fun things you did together when you were younger. Instead, we can only talk about how we had a couple of drinks before going home to watch the telly the night before my wedding.

Get There in Style Instead of Walking
Another regret I have is that we didn’t put enough style or panache into our trip to our wedding venue. We were working to a pretty tight budget but I just wish that I had taken out a small loan in order to make the whole thing a bit classier and more memorable. For example, I walked from my parent’s house to the church.

It wasn’t very far away but I would have felt a lot more excited about the build-up if I had put more effort into traveling there in style. Interestingly, limousine hire is not actually that expensive and so you could stretch your budget for you special day; after all, this day is likely not to happen again.

Relax and Smile More
I cringe when I look back at some of our old wedding photos now as I look so uptight in most of them and even downright miserable in a couple. I can clearly recall the photographer teaching me how to smile, as he obviously thought that I had never done it before in my life.

I was genuinely pleased to get married but I had gotten so worried about the build-up that it was only about three days into our honeymoon when I finally started to relax and have fun. If you can, you should ask your friends and relatives to help you to plan things for your wedding to take some of the stress of you. This will ensure that you will enjoy your wedding day and others will often be more than happy to help you with your plans.
