Tips To Keeping The Right Foods On Hand
Make sure you always have frozen fruit in the freezer. They come in convenient zip closure bags and you can get all sorts of single fruits or blends, such as mixed berries or mango/pineapple. You can also freeze portion sized bags of fruit in the right season that will keep throughout the year and cut down on time and costs. Also keep fresh milk on hand, whether it be whole, skim or low fat, but also consider the plant based milks like soy and almond. Then can have more calcium and lower fat.

Have honey, cinnamon, flax seeds or flax meal, and oatmeal in the pantry, along with walnuts. Any fresh fruits, like apples and bananas are good to have on hand. Also, keep your favorite greens in the crisper. Yes, greens! You won't even notice they are in the smoothie recipes that follow.

Lean And Green Banana Nut Smoothie
1/4 c walnuts
1 large banana
1/2 t cinnamon
1 T honey
2 large handfuls of baby spinach or baby kale
1 c milk
1 c ice
Blend all together until smooth. Add more ice or milk to get desired consistency.

Very Berry Energizer
1 T flax meal
1/4 c rolled oats (uncooked)
1 c frozen mixed berries
1 T honey or other sweetener, like agave syrup
2 large handfuls of baby spinach
1 c milk
Blend until smooth. Enjoy this easy smoothie that will jump start your day in a blender.

Mango Tango Lift
1 t flax seed
1/8 c walnuts
1-1/2 c frozen mango/pineapple/strawberry blend
1 T honey
2 large handfuls of baby kale
1 c milk
Whirl it in your blender until desired consistency.

When time is limited in the mornings, use your blender to mix up these great ways to start your day off right! You can use the same ingredients you would use in preparing a meal and simply throw them in the blender.
